Flexagon at FDUG Minnesota – off and running!

What a great start for the Minnesota chapter of the Fusion Development User Group! It was an honor to help kick off the inaugural event, which hopes to emulate the success of the original FDUG started in 2013. Jeremy Treague (Schreiber Foods) and I provided a historical perspective of FDUG dating back to the Fall of 2012. We highlighted the desire of customers across Wisconsin, Illinois, and Iowa to share their experiences with Fusion Middleware SOA, ADF, and WebCenter. We emphasized the importance of the user group being customer led and customer experience oriented. Everyone, including Oracle and Oracle Partners agreed. “The Good, Bad, and Ugly” was mentioned during the introduction, where customers can learn from many aspects of the community experience, including what to avoid along the way!

The turnout was good and included a mix of companies from across Minnesota. The agenda included a mix of architecture best practices as well as deeper dive customer experience sessions from Allete Energy (aka Minnesota Power) and Donaldson related to SOA/Integration. Nice job to Candace McAvaney (Allete) and Chris Harvey (Donaldson) for taking time to share their experiences and lessons learned.

Overall, FDUG Minnesota appears to be on the way to providing value to the Fusion Middleware customers across Minnesota. Best wishes to all everyone involved, and a special ‘thanks you’ to the leaders who have stepped up help take the group into the future.

Thanks to Oracle and AVIO for sponsoring the event. Looking forward to good things to come for FDUG Minnesota!
